Sustainability

Sustainability is important to Canon. For us, it involves focusing on reducing environmental impact, engaging with communities, and supporting wider economic growth. Alongside this, we anticipate and comply with applicable regulations and standards and even look to exceed them where possible.

Canon aims to do business responsibly. We believe the innovations and technological advances that we embed into our products should enrich the lives of our customers without harming the environment. Our business and our brand are built on sustainable economic growth. We are always working to reduce our need for new natural resources, carefully monitor economic progress and risks, and respect the communities that depend on us.

The Kyosei Philosophy

All people, regardless of race, gender, religion, ability, or culture,
harmoniously living and working together into the future,
valuing each other's differences,
and seeking ways to prosper together in a cooperative spirit.

Our corporate philosophy is Kyosei - a Japanese word that means living and working together for the common good - and this principle is embraced by all Canon employees. Kyosei shapes our mission and values as well as the way we treat our people and conduct our business. Kyosei embodies our goal of contributing to the prosperity of the world and the happiness of humanity.

Environmental Charter

Our commitment to the environment is detailed in the Canon Americas Environmental Charter. Along with our philosophical approach, eight specific objectives are defined in our charter. Our Environmental Management System (EMS) Team makes sure these objectives are implemented. Through our environmental programs and initiatives, Canon employees have participated in multiple events to clean and beautify public areas near our office locations.

Certification

Canon U.S. Life Sciences, our biomedical research organization, and more than 700 other Canon sites worldwide are certified to the ISO 14001 standard. This internationally recognized standard provides organizations with a framework for developing an effective EMS. The Canon Americas sites that have a certified EMS are audited by a third party to confirm continued conformance to the standard.
